If you’re interested in scuba diving, you may have been wondering where the best places are in Egypt. There are many great places to do this in the Red Sea, including the Thistlegorm Shipwreck and the Pyramids of Giza. You can also wind surf or scuba dive the shipwrecks. Regardless of your experience level, there is sure to be a dive that is right for you.
Visit the Pyramids of Giza
When on a Hurghada tour, you’ll most likely get to see the Pyramids of Giza. These ancient monuments are about 20 kilometers from the city centre. The complex contains the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, the Pyramid of Menkaure, and the Sphinx. It is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and is protected by a mighty Sphinx. The oldest pyramid is the Great Pyramid of Khufu, which is a stunning 4,500-year-old monument. It has three chambers and can be reached via the Robbers’ Tunnel. This tunnel is approximately 27 metres long and leads to the Ascending Passage.
Snorkel in the Red Sea
Scuba diving is a great way to experience the underwater world, and there are several activities available near the Hurghada area. Bottlenose dolphins are often spotted in the shallow waters near the Dolphin House. Other areas that offer excellent snorkeling opportunities near Hurghada include Shaab El Erg and the Sunken City. Shaab El Erg is a reef system located on the north east side of El Gouna. It is a peaceful bay that offers complete collections of local animals and fish.
Windsurf
The Tommy Friedl Pro Centre in Hurghada is a good place to learn windsurfing, and it is right on the Red Sea. Beginners are prepared for their first tacks with the saltwater lake, and the sandy beach in front of the centre is a perfect place to practice. The shallow waters are ideal for waterstart students, who can use the little ramps to practice their first jumps. Freestylers can try their new skills at the numerous jumps and bumps available.
Scuba dive in the shipwrecks
Scuba divers can take advantage of the abundance of shipwrecks in the Red Sea when they take part in a tour of the city. Among the most impressive wreck sites are those located at El Mina, Salem Express, Giannis D, and Thistlegorm. These shipwrecks are perfect for experienced divers who want to dive in a completely different environment than what they are accustomed to.
Enjoy a safari in the desert
On one of your Hurghada tours, you can enjoy a quad bike, dune buggy, or even a spider car ride. A Bedouin village and desert mirages are included as part of the excursion. A traditional Arabic dinner and show are also included in this experience. You can also enjoy a camel ride. Afterward, you can sit back and watch the sunset or take in the local nightlife by taking in a belly dance show.
Enjoy a Nile cruise
In the morning, you’ll get a breakfast box and then continue on to your excursion to the Abu Simbel Temple. This temple, located in the Meha district of Egypt, was constructed in the late XVIII century. The first written references to this site date back to the reign of Ptolemy VI. You can also explore the Edfu Temple, which dates back to the 2nd and 1st centuries B.C., and is said to be home to the god Horus. The triad of Amon-Re, Mut, and the goddess Isis is also represented in the Temple of Luxor.
