Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Cairo Airport

Our Sempre Travel Egypt representative will be waiting for you at Cairo Airport to help you with the visa formalities and baggage handling before you start your journey together to the hotel in Cairo.

Take the time to relax until we meet you in the evening for the pickup and transfer from your hotel to Cairo train station. It awaits you a train ride in the sleeper train in the direction of Aswan.

Day 2: Cairo - Train to Aswan - Philae Temple - Aswan Dam

After arriving in Aswan in the early morning you will be welcomed by our representative and taken to the Nile Banks, where the Nile Cruise and the crew is already awaiting you to help you get on board.

Someone else is waiting for you in Aswan, one of our experienced Egyptologists, with whom you will now visit our first Aswan sight, the

Philae Temple

To protect the Philae Temple from the floods of the Nile River at Philae Island, the original location, the temple complex was rebuilt on Agilkia Island. For this, the temple complex was broken down into countless individual blocks and dismantled.

We drive from the Nile River bank in the direction of Aswan Old Dam to take from here a small boat from a jetty to Agilkia Island. Even the journey across the lake to the island is an experience! Let our Egyptologist explain the history of the Philae Temple to you before we take the boat back to the jetty for the onward journey to the next stop on our excursion today, the

Aswan Dam

Not far from Aswan Old Dam, which we are now crossing, is an enormous structure, the Aswan High Dam. The Dam was built to regulate the flooding of the Nile River and to supply Egypt with electricity. Upon arrival, YOU will discover massive turbines and locks on one side of the Aswan High Dam and the opposite side, the bank of the giant reservoir, the great famous Lake Nasser. Also, the famous Abu Simbel Temples are here on the bank.

For lunch and a relaxing time onboard, we take you back to the Nile Cruise ships. Here you will also enjoy dinner in the evening and a relaxed night in your cabin.

Day 3: Aswan Nile Cruise – Kom Ombo – Edfu

You are an early bird and fascinated by the Abu Simbel Temples? In this case, grab the chance to join us on an optional excursion to Abu Simbel very early in the morning.

For those who want to rest a little longer and enjoy the ambience of the ship: Our Nile Cruise sets off for the journey along the course of the Nile River towards Kom Ombo at early noon (of course, we take our Abu Simbel Temples excursionists with us).

Kom Ombo

We reach one of the highlights of our Nile Cruise, the doppel temple Kom Ombo, which was dedicated to the Haroeris Egyptian god and the god Sobek. After an extensive tour of the temple complex, it goes back on board for the onward journey downstream to

Edfu

In Edfu, we anchor again to visit the very well preserved Horus Temple. The Edfu Temple, dedicated to Horus falcon headed god, is in no way inferior to its famous "colleagues", the Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple.

For the night, we anchor here in Edfu.

Day 4: Nile Cruise Luxor

We cast off early in the morning and passing the Esna lock on our way to Luxor.

Make yourself comfortable on the sundeck during the trip and let the nature of the Nile River have its effect on you. You get the unique opportunity to see real life in the villages along the Nile River, farmers tilling their fields, children rushing to school, as well as one or the other woman who carries her shopping or harvest home with a large bowl on her head, Hands-free!! You should give this a try at home!

In the evening, we reach the city famous for its countless sights, Luxor, where we also stay for the night.

If you are not sleepy yet and in the mood to go out, then you should join our optional excursion to the Karnak Sound and Light Show, a unique presentation of the Karnak temple complex in the evening.

We spend the night on board in Luxor.

Day 5: Luxor - Karnak Temple Valley of the Kings - Hatshepsut Temple

In the early morning, we leave the ship and make our way to Karnak Temple. Known as the largest temple complex in the world, the Karnak Temple consists of several temples and is located in Luxor, also known as the largest open-air museum in the world.

While walking through the huge pillared hypostyle hall, our Egyptologist will explain some more about the history of Karnak Temple. After you have admired the monumental statues and the massive obelisk, we will visit the "Holy Lake" in the outer area of the Karnak Temple.

For lunch, we drive back to the Nile Cruise ship and strengthen ourselves for the excursion to the Luxor West Bank.

We leave the Nile Cruise make our way to the

Valley of the Kings

During a stay in Luxor, a trip to Luxor West Bank, where the world-famous tombs of the pharaohs are located in the Valley of the Kings, should not be missed. We leave Luxor East Bank and cross the Nile River, drive through the green fields of Luxor West Bank into the rocky mountains to the hidden Valley of the Kings. Here, our Egyptologist will be happy to help you choose the most interesting of the three tombs included in the entrance fee.

With guaranteed overwhelming impressions, we leave the valley for the journey to

Hatshepsut Temple,

located in the neighboring valley. The temple of Queen Hatshepsut, which is already visible from Luxor East Bank and set high up in the rocky mountains, still impresses with its architectural masterpiece, so it's no wonder that to this day, the terrace-shaped temple can still keep up with modern architecture.

If you climb the steps of the Hatshepsut Temple, you will notice why Queen Hatshepsut, the only female ruler of Egypt for more than 20 years, has chosen this strategically interesting place. From the front, the temple complex offers a wide-open view over the Nile valley and is in the back protected by the rocks.

After marveling at the well-preserved reliefs, we make our way back to Luxor for check in your hotel.

Day 6: Train to Cairo – Cairo Pyramids

Early in the morning, we say goodbye to Luxor, and our representative will take you from the Luxor Hotel to Luxor Train Station for your train to Cairo.

For the following 2 nights, we will check into a comfortable hotel in Cairo, and from there, we set off with our experienced Egyptologist to one of the most famous landmarks of Egypt, the

3 Pyramids of Giza

On the outskirts of the metropolis of Cairo, on the Giza Plateau, the famous tombs of the pharaohs, the great Cheops Pyramid, the middle Chephren Pyramid, and the smaller Mykerinos Pyramid together with the Great Sphinx of Giza await us. Almost everyone already knows the Cairo Pyramids with the Sphinx from pictures, but standing in person at the foot of these massive monuments is certainly an experience!

From one of the most impressive Cairo sights, we drive back to your hotel.

Would you like to relax and rest for the next day, or experience Cairo by night in the evening? Ask our staff member, he will help you choose interesting entertainment programs for the evening in Cairo.

Day 7: Cairo Egyptian Museum – Saladin Citadel – Muhammad Ali Mosque

In the morning, we make our way to the center of Cairo, and maybe you already noticed last night that this is a city that never sleeps. Also, in the early morning, the streets are already full of people and traffic. We mix with the hustle and bustle of the traffic in the direction to the

Egyptian Museum

In the Luxor Temples, we have seen some of the most impressive statues and well-preserved tombs in the Valley of the Kings. Now one of the highlights of our Cairo tours awaits you, the wonderful Egyptian Museum with its thousands of artifacts, massive statues and other finds from the graves you have already visited.

The Cairo Museum houses discoveries from archaeological excavations across Egypt, including the attraction of the Tutankhamun tomb with his famous golden death mask. This part of our Egypt trip will surely overwhelm you!

After the museum visit, we make our way to the next destination, the

Saladin Citadel – Alabaster Mosque

One of the best-preserved fortresses in Egypt is the Saladin Citadel, built on a hill known as Mokattam Mountain. Standing there, you have an overview of a large part of the city (strategically well-chosen for protection), with good visibility even as far as to the Pyramids of Giza.

From here, you have a view of something that nobody in the metropolis of Cairo suspects, the "green lungs" of Cairo, the Al Azhar Park, where the Cairo residents try to escape the hustle and bustle of the city on weekends.

Muhammad Ali Mosque (Alabaster Mosque)

After an explosion in the ammunition dump destroyed part of the citadel in 1824, Muhammad Ali had a large mosque built in the destroyed area of the Saladin Citadel, which his son Said Pasha completed in 1857.

We leave the Citadel and return to your hotel in Cairo Egypt, where you have the rest of the day at leisure.

Based on the tour program we will make a short lunch break in one of the traditional restaurants.
