Early in the morning, we pick you up from one of the Marsa Alam Hotels and make our way to Luxor. In a small group, you can enjoy a relaxing drive towards Luxor East Bank to the first of many Luxor attractions, the
Karnak Temple
one of the largest temple complexes in the world welcomes you with the remains of a
sphinx avenue, the way that one led from
Luxor Temple to
Karnak Temple has now been restored in long-term archaeological excavations. Our
Egyptologist will explain to you the masterpiece of this temple construction and how its stones came from the quarries in the south of Egypt over
Nile River to Luxor.
Hypostyle Hall
When entering the
Karnak Temple, you first step into the big, famous pillared Hall that gives all its visitors the impression of having the dimension of ant. The impressive Hall is over 500 square meters big and one of the most visited open-air monuments in the world.
Karnak Obelisk
We are sure you will wonder how Egyptians managed to create these huge monuments in the time of the pharaohs to which also these 300-Ton
Obelisk located inside the
Karnak Temple belongs.
Karnak Sacred Lake
After a wonderful tour through the
Karnak Temple, we visit the
Karnak Sacred Lake on the edge of the temple complex. In
ancient Egypt, this
holy Lake was used for ceremonial ablutions and still filled with water. From there, we make our way to the next stop on our
Luxor trip from
Marsa Alam, the not less attractive
Luxor West Bank.
Colossi of Memnon
After reaching the
East Bank of the
Nile River, our way leads us to the
Colossi of Memnon, guardians of the mortuary temple of
Amenhotep III standing guard on the site of the road to the
Valley of the Kings. In the surrounding area, we make a stop for lunch before continuing our
Luxor trip from
Marsa Alam to the
Valley of the Kings
The
Valley of the Kings is one of the most spectacular places to visit in
Luxor. Here we visit 3 of the tombs you can choose from; 65 famous graves were discovered so far. Your guide is happy to help you choose the most interesting tombs.
Probably the best-known and at the same time most famous tomb in the
Valley of the Kings is the tomb of
Tutankhamun which can be visited for a surcharge together with the one of
Seti I and Ramses VI.
When entering the tombs that lead deep into the rocky mountain, you will be overwhelmed by the well-preserved paintings on the walls that tell the story of the respective kings. After the visit to the
Valley of the Kings, we drive with all these impressions in direction to the
Hatshepsut Temple
Hatshepsut, the only female regent, reigned for more than 22 years over whole
Egypt. She had this architectural masterpiece built in a particularly strategic location on
Luxor West Bank. You can access the
Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, built high up in the rocky mountains, via many steps. From here, you will be rewarded with a wide view over the riverbank of the
Nile River at the front and will notice that the
Hatshepsut Temple is secured from the back by high rock walls.
The terraced
Hatshepsut Temple can still keep up with the most modern architectural construction methods to this day. At the top of the temple, you will be surprised by the wonderfully preserved reliefs covering the masonry. Our
Egyptologist will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the history of the
Hatshepsut Temple.
Enjoy the view over the
Nile Valley before we go the stairs of the
Hatshepsut Temple down to start with the transfer back from our
Luxor trip from
Marsa Alam – Karnak Temple – Valley of the Kings – Hatshepsut Temple to your accommodation in
Marsa Alam.
