Would you like to enrich your Hurghada holidays with a trip to the history of ancient Egypt? Discover together with Sempre Travel Egypt some of the most famous Luxor sights on our Hurghada to Luxor trip incl. overnight stay in Luxor. With the pick-up from your accommodation in Hurghada, we start our tour through the beautiful mountain landscape to Luxor East Bank where the
Karnak Temple
is awaiting you.
Karnak Temple, probably the largest temple complex in the world, welcomes you with the
Sphinx Avenue before you enter the impressive pillared hall. The former much shorter
Sphinx Avenue connected the
Karnak Temple with the
Luxor Temple and is currently being restored with great effort. For this project, some buildings in
Luxor Downtown had to be removed and rebuild somewhere else. With the
Karnak Temple, you enter a holy place of worship in
ancient Egypt. The
temple complex consists of several temples and the “
Holy Lake”, a place for sacrifice and purification rituals. Our
Egyptologist is happy to answer all your open questions about the history of
Karnak Temple. After our walk through the impressive
temple complex, we take a lunch break in a local restaurant before continuing
Tour Luxor with a visit of the
Luxor Temple
Luxor Temple, a coronation temple where the coronation ceremony were held in the time of the
Pharaohs of Egypt, is located on the outskirt of the city, directly on the promenade of the
Nile River on
Luxor East Bank. The construction of the
Luxor Temple complex, dedicated to the
god Amun, took hundreds of years during the reign of
Amenhotep III, Ramses II, and
Tutankhamun. In 2001, the
World Monuments Fund donated a contribution to the preservation of the
Luxor Temple, with which the sandstone fragments, which up until then were in the salty groundwater, were restored. This ensured the preservation of the columns and wall fragments, inscribed with
hieroglyphics that tell the story of the pharaohs. We do not leave the
Luxor Temple without taking a look at the
Luxor West Bank, where we can see the
Hatshepsut Temple, one of our
Luxor sights for the following day.
After the check-in in your accommodation in
Luxor, you have some time to relax or take part in one of our optionally offered
Luxor sightseeing tours in the evening, such as the
Karnak Sound and Light Show, or how about a traditional Egyptian meal together?
