The Pyramids of Giza, one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world, is a landmark of Egypt capital. After your arrival, you will be welcomed by an Egyptologist who will be waiting for you.
The world-famous 3 Pyramids of Giza are located on the outskirts of Cairo on the Giza Plateau. Standing at the foot of the Pyramids you will ask yourself: How did the Egyptians manage to create this masterpiece over 4000 years ago without mechanical help? For questions like that our Egyptologist is by your side during this tour.
Great Sphinx of Giza: After taking a walk around the 3 Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinos for a while, our Egyptologist leads you to the Great Sphinx of Giza. The impressive lion statue with the head of a human is the guardian of the Giza Necropolis. From the Great Sphinx of Giza, you can see our next destination, the Valley Temple Giza.
Valley Temple Giza, located at the foot of the Chephren Pyramid, is an ancient Egyptian temple and Sphinx Temple. The pillars of the unfinished Valley Temple Giza are only 10 meters away from the Great Sphinx of Giza. From there, we make our way to the most beautiful hill in Cairo, the Mokattam Plateau, with the Saladin Citadel.
The famous Saladin Citadel is one of the best-preserved fortresses. Built on a hill on the Mokattam Plateau, you have an overview of a large part of Cairo City.
Sometimes you can even spot the Pyramids of Giza in the distance. Below the fortress are the Sultan Hassan Mosque and the Mosque of Ibn Tulun, parts of the Islamic area Cairo.
In 1824, a large explosion in the ammunition dump destroyed parts of the citadel. Muhammed Ali decided to build a large mosque in this area of the citadel. His son Said Pasha completed the construction in 1857.
Close to the Saladin Citadel is something that nobody in the metropolis of Cairo would suspect, the Al Azhar Park, the “Green Lung” of Cairo. Residents of Cairo visit the park at the weekend to escape the hustle and bustle of Cairo city.
After enjoying the beautiful view over Cairo, we leave the Mokkatam Plateau for a lunch break in a traditional restaurant. From here, we continue our Cairo Tours and visit the biggest oriental bazaar.
In the Islamic area Cairo, part of Cairo old city, is one of the oldest and biggest markets in Africa which is Khan el Khalili Cairo. With this large market (Souq), you visit an oriental market from the 14th century. The Bazaar was built on a former mausoleum site as a caravanserai (Arabic = Khan) and trading center. Its name consists of the name and place of origin of its founder: Emir Jarkas Al Khalili. These days Khan el Khalili Cairo is entered through a gate, the only one from the former three entrances.
The market has a turbulent past. In the 15th century, the market became famous as a huge trading center for valuable stones and served as a place for the slave trade.
The Khan el Khalili Cairo is the perfect place to find a few souvenirs from the wide range of fragrances, oils, teas, and oriental handicrafts.
After a stroll through the alleys of the Khan el Khalili Cairo, we make our way back to your accommodation in Hurghada.
