Cruise A: Luxor Aswan 5 Days – 4 Nights

Day 1: Arrival – Luxor sights East Bank

For embarkation on the luxury MS Sonesta Sun Goddess our Sempre Travel Egypt employee will pick you up from Luxor Airport, the train station or your accommodation in Luxor, depending on your arrival.

After a freshly prepared lunch menu on board the Nile Cruise, we start our tour to two of the most famous Luxor sights on the East Bank, the world-famous

Karnak Temple

We leave the boat for a visit to the impressive Karnak Temple Complex, a world-famous open-air museum consisting of several temples and well-known as the largest temple complex in the world.

While walking through the hypostyle hall with all the pillars, our Egyptologist will tell you some fascinating information about the history of Karnak Temple. After admiring monumental statues as well as the huge obelisk we will visit the "Holy Lake" in the outside area of Karnak Temple before we continue to

Luxor Temple

that unites 3 religions in one temple complex. Already from the beautiful promenade of Luxor, you can spot Luxor Temple, built at the time of worshipping the gods, with its church ruins and a mosque inside the temple complex.

After that, we make our way back on board for dinner and a relaxed overnight stay.

Day 2: Luxor sights West Bank

After a relaxed breakfast, our Egyptologist will take you early in the morning to Luxor West Bank. On our way to the famous Valley of the Kings, we make a photo stop at the impressive

Colossi of Memnon

These two huge statues formerly served as guards of the Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III.

From there, we follow the path high up into the deep rock-cut, the

Valley of the Kings

In the shelter of these rocks, pharaohs had built their tombs to make sure they are protected from grave robber. Unfortunately, this was a mistake, and several graves were robbed, even before archaeologists discovered them.

We reach the Valley of the Kings, and with a small train, we continue our way up to the actual entrance, where you get an entry ticket incl. the visit of 3 tombs. Our Egyptologist will help you choose the most interesting tombs.

From the Valley of the Kings, our excursion takes us to the

Hatshepsut Temple

Hatshepsut, the only female ruler over Egypt for more than 22 years, had this architectural masterpiece built at a particularly strategic location in the rocky mountains with a view over the banks of the Nile River. To this day, the terraced Hatshepsut Temple can keep up with most modern construction methods.

At the End of our West Bank day tour, we drive back to the Nile Cruise. Here, on the way to Edfu, lunch and afternoon tea will be served. When we arrive in Edfu, we are anchored on board for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Edfu Horus Temple - doppel temple Kom Ombo

Today we start, right after your breakfast on board, with a visit to the Temple of Horus. The Edfu Temple (also known as Horus Temple) is one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt and is located on the East Bank of the Nile River. Thanks to the skills of the builders, the Edfu Temple appears in different colors in the sunlight. The temple complex, dedicated to the Egyptian falcon god Horus, has a history shaped by many religious battles and was well-known all over the country as a special place of worship during the time of the pharaohs.

We continue our way to

Kom Ombo, where we leave the boat to visit the famous doppel temple Kom Ombo, located a little more than an hours drive from Edfu. Here, the somewhat unusual doppel temple Kom Ombo, consisting of two parts, is waiting for us. One side is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the other side to Haroeris Egyptian God.

Back on board, we set off for the onward journey to Aswan. While enjoying your afternoon tea or coffee on deck until dinner, you should take in the beautiful view of the banks of the Nile River. After dinner, a relaxing overnight stay on board in Aswan awaits you.

Day 4: Aswan sights - Aswan dam - Philae temple - Unfinished Obelisk

Before today's tour to Aswan starts, you should strengthen yourself with the extensive breakfast on board. From here we disembark for the trip to the famous

Aswan Dam

The impressive dam regulates the electricity supply in Egypt and the water level of the Nile River. But the modern Aswan High Dam is not the first dam built in Egypt. We continue our Aswan sightseeing tour with a visit to the "old Aswan Dam" and the

Philae Temple

located on an island. Philae temple was saved from its original location on Philae Island when Lake Nasser was flooded and rebuilt on today's Agilkia Island. Since 1979 the Philae Temple has been one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Enjoy the journey to the island with one of the boats waiting for us at the jetty, and don't hesitate to ask our guide for some more details about the interesting history of Philae Temple.

Aswan Quarry and Unfinished Obelisk

We make our way to the old Aswan Quarry, where rose granite once was mined, and the Unfinished Obelisk is located. If completed, it would have become the tallest Obelisk in the history of Egypt. With impressive memories of Egypt, we leave Aswan Quarry and return to the ship.
