Day 2: Pyramids of Giza - Saqqara

Right after breakfast in the hotel, we start the day with a visit to one of the most famous attractions in Cairo, the Pyramids of Giza. Located on the outskirts of the metropolis, the Pyramids are a magnet for visitors from all over the world. The so-called Giza Plateau with the great Cheops Pyramid, the middle-sized Chephren Pyramid and the smaller Pyramid of Menkaure is waiting for you. Here you also see the famous guardian of the mortuary temple, the Great Sphinx of Giza, with the body of a lion and a human head.

From the Giza Plateau, we drive to Memphis, the former capital of ancient Egypt, to visit the famous Saqqara necropolis with the predecessor of the Cairo Pyramids, the Djoser Step Pyramid.

Day 3: Cairo

In the area of your hotel you are surrounded by many famous sights so why not grab the chance to explore the area a little bit? Plan your free day for yourself or accompany our tour guide to some excursions in Cairo away from our regular tour program. A very private and stress-free atmosphere is guaranteed.

Day 4: Flight Cairo to Luxor

Today you will leave the beautiful city of Cairo, and right after check-out from the hotel, we take you to the Airport for the flight Cairo to Luxor. Once in Luxor, we bring you to your accommodation, a hotel on the East Bank of Nile River, also famous as Luxor East Bank. Take your time to acclimate. Luxor has a beautiful promenade along the Nile River, and if you want to be a bit more active on the day of arrival, don’t hesitate to ask our tour guide about some short excursions.

Day 5: Luxor East Bank: Karnak Temple – Luxor Temple

On the morning of the 5th day of our Egypt discovery excursion, right after breakfast in the Luxor Hotel, we start to the world’s largest temple complex, the Karnak Temple. The construction consists of several temples, and its fascinating Hypostyle Hall casts a spell over every visitor. Everyone wonders how it was possible to create these massive monuments in ancient Egypt.

After a walk through Karnak Temple, we continue our way to Luxor Temple. The former connection through a processional path is now restored after a long time of restoration work. Don’t hesitate to ask our experienced Egyptologist all your questions about the history of these two temples.

Day 6: Luxor West Bank: Valley of the Kings – Hatshepsut Temple

After breakfast in the hotel, we will assist you at the check-out from the hotel, take your luggage and leave Luxor East Bank behind us to exchange accommodation with a cosy little hotel located on Luxor West Bank.

Today we visit the famous Valley of the Kings, hidden deep in the valley. Here you can explore 3 tombs that were cut deep into the rocks. Our tour guide will help you to choose the 3 most impressive tombs. After that, we make our way towards Hatshepsut Temple, a beautiful terraced temple complex that you can already spot from Luxor East Bank. Surely impressed by two of the Luxor West Bank must see attractions, we drive back to your accommodation.

Day 7: Luxor West Bank – Relaxing in the nature or optional Hot Air Balloon

Every vacation should be stress-free, and without any hectic and because of this we are taking a day off from visiting Luxor sights.

But not without offering you something optional. Are you one of the so-called early birds? Perfect! Join us on a trip to discover the Luxor sights from birds eye view with a Luxor Hot Air Balloon ride at sunrise over the Nile Valley. Alternatively, you can spend a relaxing day on the Luxor West Bank, sunbathing with a view of the Nile River and a cool refreshment, ride with a felucca at sunset and gather some energy for the next day of our Egypt Round Trip – 15 Day Cairo Abu Simbel incl. Nile Cruise Dahabiya.

Day 8: Luxor – Drive to Esna – Nile Cruise Dahabiya

We promised you a special tour with a Nile Cruise Dahabiya, a sailing ship equipped with every comfort. After breakfast, we continue our excursion to Esna (a lock in the Nile River), where you will board the Dahabiya. The sailing ship from colonial times was renovated but did not lose its charm. From there, we start our Nile Cruise.

You can feel the exclusive atmosphere of the sailing ship as soon as you step onboard. The Dahabiya offer comfortable space for 10 guests and convinces with modern, air-conditioned cabins, a must for a relaxed Nile Cruise. The sailing ship relies on windy weather, and in case the weather ruins the plan, there also is a tug boat.

In silence, we start the sailing tour 15 kilometres towards the ruined city of El Kab Egypt, which we visit to continue our tour to one of the islands in the Nile River to set the anchor. Let yourself be infected by the ease and choose a spot for your dinner, be it on the shore or deck under the starry sky. Enjoy this romantic way of travelling!

Day 9: Nile Cruise Dahabiya – Edfu temple – Horus Temple

Early in the morning, we let the wind take us to Edfu. Do you like to sleep a bit longer? In this case, some of your fellow travelers might already expect you up on deck after waking up. Early birds can enjoy on deck a beautiful sunrise over the desert and the fields on the shore.

We set the anchor in Edfu, where the Horus Temple awaits us. The well-preserved temple complex, dedicated to Horus falcon headed god, is as impressive as the famous Karnak Temple and the Luxor Temple we visited before. We make our way to a village tour in the typical Upper Egyptian Village Wadi El Shat. Before we return to the Nile Cruise Dahabiya, we take some time walking through the tropical gardens there. For the overnight stay on board, we set the anchor at the banks of the Nile River.

Day 10: Sailing with the Dahabiya to Kom Ombo

Early in the morning, we sail with the Dahabiya towards Kom Ombo, but not without stopping at a fascinating place on the way, the excavations of Gebel El Silsila with the temple of Horemheb the forgotten Pharaoh. Nearby is the quarry from where the stones for the construction of the Karnak Temple come.

Back on board, we continue our sailing tour to one of the highlights of the Nile Cruise, the doppel temple Kom Ombo, dedicated to Haroeris Egyptian god and Sobek god. After an extensive excursion inside the temple complex, we go back to the sailing boat to enjoy something that makes this combination of sightseeing and relaxation so unique, a quiet sailing tour with an opportunity to relax onboard and in the evening...

How about a candle light dinner on one of the islands where we are staying for the night? The boat crew will prepare everything imaginable for your comfortable and eventful tour.

Day 11: Nile Cruise Dahabiya – Daraw Egypt - El Koubania

Today we hoist the sails early in the morning and drive to the Daraw Egypt, where a lively souk awaits us. Visiting a souk means experiencing part of real Egypt and the daily life of the people living in the area. Discover small shops with their wide range of fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and handicraft utensils, as well as a camel market that takes place every Tuesday. While strolling through the alleys, our cook got some fresh ingredients for lunch on board. Here we will be waiting for you after this excursion.

Back on board, we sail to Aswan, the home of the Nubians. We stop again at the Village of El Koubania, where you can get to know the way of life and hospitality of the Nubians before we spend the night on the Nile Cruise Dahabiya.

Day 12: Arrival Aswan – Journey to Abu Simbel Temples

After arriving in Aswan, saying goodbye to the boat crew will not be easy, but one of the most famous destinations of our 15 Day Egypt Tour, the Abu Simbel Temples, awaits you. We make our way to the temple complex, for which we need about 3 hours by bus. Like Philae Temple and Kalabsha Temple, the world-famous Abu Simbel Temples were relocated and saved by UNESCO from the floods of Lake Nasser, created by the Aswan Dam. Our experienced tour guide will explain everything about the history of this impressive temple and the annual Abu Simbel Sun Festival taking place on February 22nd and October 22nd.

At the End of this fascinating day, our tour guide will accompany you to a Nubian-style lodge where you can relax and spend the night in a cosy room.

Day 13: Abu Simbel Temples – Aswan

We make our way back to Aswan, where you will check into a hotel near the banks of the Nile River. Today you have some time to relax again. Arrange the day entirely according to your wishes and if there are any open questions don't hesitate to ask our tour guides.

Day 14: Aswan – Philae Temple – Kalabsha Temple

Right after breakfast in your hotel in Aswan, we go to the jetty from where we will start our tour to the first highlight in Aswan, the Philae Temple. From here, small wooden boats cross the Nile River to Philae Temple on today’s Agilkia Island. The impressive Temple was dismantled from its former location on Philae Island in individual blocks to save it from the floods. On Agilkia Island, it was then rebuilt.

After the visit and a boat tour over the water of Aswan Old Dam back to the jetty, we continue our tour to the Kalabsha Temple. Also, this temple complex was rebuilt around 50 Kilometers from its original location to save it from the floods of Lake Nasser. In the afternoon, you can join our optional visit to a Nubian Village. Do you want to join this optional tour? Together with the tour guide, we drive up the Nile River in a small motorboat. You will notice that the river is getting a bit smaller and more little islands to come up. This area had a completely different character compared to the one you know from the Nile Cruise. After a welcome drink in the Nubian Village, you will get an insight into the everyday life of the Nubians.
